Designing Main Street!
August 16, 17, 18
Envision Victor heard that Victor residents want our town to keep its small town feel, its family friendliness, its connection to nature, its sustainability, and its cultural history. What better place to start making sure this happens than on Main Street? Especially, when we will have the funding to start putting our ideas into action in the next few years!
Victor's Main Street serves drivers, pedestrians, bikers, children, horses, businesses, tourists, locals, and more, and we want to hear from EVERYONE as we plan for the future.
For three days this August, Envision Victor will work with the public to test drive some different design ideas for Main Street. We will use our 3D technology to test out a variety of possible design features for our roadway, features such as wider sidewalks, a signal at Center and Main, a roundabout, a tree-line boulevard, wider cross-walks, and more. Please share YOUR ideas with us in advance, so that we can model them as well.
The point of these meetings will be to hear from you. What do you like? What don't you like? Which of these items best support our town's five values? As always, Envision Victor is rooted in the belief that you, the residents of Victor, are the experts on what our Main Street should look like. The ideas we gather in these meetings will become the Main Street vision plan that we propose to the Victor City Council. If approved, we will be ready to seek out the funding that will allow us to construct the Main Street of our dreams.
Got some great ideas for how to keep Main Street attractive and safe? Don't miss this chance to share your thoughts!
ALL THREE OF THESE GATHERINGS WILL BE THE SAME - JOIN US FOR WHICHEVER ONE IS MOST CONVENIENT:
- Monday, August 16. 7pm: Victor Elementary School

- Gateway Project
We hear all the time that we’ve got to do something to slow down traffic on Main Street, and we’re working on doing just that. This action project team is working on designing a visual gateway at the entrances to downtown. We will be working with the Idaho Transportation Department, as well as the public and the City to create an entrance that fits our community and helps people realize when they are entering our town. Stay tuned for ways to get involved and help us design something that truly represents Victor well. Thanks to Charlie Otto and Matt Eagens for their leadership of this team!
- Pierre's Playhouse
Pierre's Playhouse is opening again thanks, in part, to the energy created by Envision Victor. The Egbert family hopes Pierre's will become a cultural community center - a family-friendly place where art can be displayed, movies can be screened, plays can be performed, and community events can be held. More work is being done on Pierre's every day, and the Egbert family wants to know what YOU want to see in Pierre's in the future! Click here to see daily updates on construction progress, previews of what's to come, and let the Egbert family know what you want to see in Victor's own local theater!
- Postcard Competition
Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry into the Envision Victor postcard contest! We have selected two winners - Hannah Linville and Susan Lykes. (Congratulations to our winners!) But, the truth is, all of the entries were so good, we want to make sure they all get seen. So we will be making postcards out of all of them. To see them, click here, or stop by the Emporium in a few weeks to to buy a few! Special thanks to Kim Keeley for heading up this team!
- Local farmers directory
Victor is an agricultural community with a long history. In today’s economy farmers have to be creative to make ends meet. Luckily there may be exciting ways to fuel our local economy by feeding our local residents. This team is working on developing a local farmer’s directory to start putting farmers in touch with eaters in our Valley, and to help begin a dialogue between the farmers who have been here for generations and those who have just arrived. Thanks to Jen Werlin and Grace Barca for their leadership of this team!

- Reaching out
Envision Victor is committed to involving a variety of Victor residents in the process of planning our city. Everyone's voice is important. Our goal is to help figure out what the people who live here love about this place so that we can make sure that Victor remains a town to come home to. If you are interested in getting involved, or if you have ideas about how we may reach out to others in our community, please email us to let us know!
